Cat Wrangler

Flexibility: It's important to us that we find the right person, so we're willing to work around your needs, desires, and schedule. In the right cases, we're also willing to build the shift hours around your needs.

Low-ego, positive coworkers / management: We believe in graciousness and humility. Doing the right thing even when inconvenient. And not only taking ownership of our accomplishments, but also our shortcomings - because it's not important that we make mistakes or have weaknesses, but rather that we acknowledge them freely and try to improve, together, as a team.

We're here to help you grow, and vice versa.

Now for the fun stuff: For the most part, you'll tend to a room of people (up to 13). You'll provide an entertaining backdrop to people excited to meet our kitties, which includes: sharing cats facts, cat purrsonality traits, chit-chatting about guests' lives, and taking orders for food and drink. You’ll be guiding guests as to how to get the best out of their experience, and guiding cats who love backs, shoulders, string toys, etc. to guests that want to provide such comforts. You'll also tend to the cats' needs, health, and litter boxes as well (which includes cleaning, as necessary).

Now for the serious stuff: The least fun part of the job is cleaning. (That being said, we have invested a lot of money into automatic litter boxes, mechanical mops, high-end vacuums). Still, there will be cat poop, cat pee, cat vomit, trash cans, and dishes. We say this because we want someone who, like us isn’t above getting the job done. We all pitch-in. Early. Often. And with focus. We ask folks not to be on their phones unless on a break and to treat the job as we treat everyone who works it: with consideration and respect. Please note that the strongest candidates will be interested in cross-training for the cafe and host positions; this is to help with flexibility in scheduling - because making everyone’s dream schedules come true is really, really important to us.

That being said, if you’re a really strong candidate for any one position, please tell us why :)

Benefits

- Commuter Benefits
- Fresh, free meals and snacks
- Spend on and off-hours with cats
- Employee discounts on merchandise, free cat lounge visits, etc.
- 401K (matching funds between 5 and 15% based on tenure - really)
- And perhaps most importantly: a no-jerk co-worker policy :)

We look forward to hearing from you soon!
And please feel free to ask questions - we really do love to help.

Host

We're here to help you grow, and vice versa.

Now for the fun stuff: You'll be managing the reservations book, answering the phone, and welcoming guests with your warm, delightful purrsonality. You’ll also occassionally take charge of our merchandise area, re-stocking items, maintaining inventory counts in Square (dead simple), and processing orders that arrive during business hours.

Now for the serious stuff: Multi-tasking is a must, as is using your time efficiently. We ask very basic things (e.g. not to be on one’s phone unless on a break) and return the favor with care, consideration, and respect to your individualized needs. Pitching-in with the other positions is important, especially helping in the kitchen. Please note that the strongest candidates will be interested in cross-training for the cafe and host positions; this is to help with flexibility in scheduling - because making everyone’s dream schedules come true is really, really important to us.

Cafe

You're able to gracefully perform the waltz we all know and love. The one where where you start a french press while tending to a customer, begin brewing a pot of tea while they're deciding, and note the count-down in your bones that tells you a panini is *almost* done. Volume isn't high, except a pop here and there on weekends; still, you'll always be working with our cafe's chef, and there's almost always a manager on duty for backup too.

Flexibility: 5-20 hours. It's important to us that we find the right person, so we're willing to work around your needs, desires, and schedule. We're also willing to build the shift hours around your needs too.

Low-ego, positive coworkers / management: We believe in graciousness and humility. Doing the right thing even when inconvenient. We're here to help you grow, and vice versa.

Now for the serious stuff: We're looking for someone who can tend to drink and food-making while taking care of customers with their warm, delightful purrsonality. Being good at multi-tasking is a must, as is using your time and steps efficiently. Full disclosure: the job involves dishwashing (via machine) and cleaning; but we work as a team, and the owner and opurrations manager will insist on doing the dirty parts of the job alongside you (or to relieve you when we’re busy and you’d benefit from something lower key, instead). Please note that the strongest candidates will be interested in cross-training for the cafe and host positions; this is to help with flexibility in scheduling - because making everyone’s dream schedules come true is really, really important to us.

Hiring Process: We will contact applicants for a phone interview when we think it might be a purrfect match!

While we believe in transparency and proactive communication (job hunting is pretty awful, isn't it?) - please, no (cat)calls about hiring. We do our best to answer everyone, but volume prevents it in every case. If you think you are just purrfect and need to follow-up via email, feel free to send a note: meow@kitteasf.com.
