KitTea's Purrr-manent Residents

Dolly Purrton (Female) - Resident

Birthday: April 2016

Purr-sonality Traits: Confident, Very Sweet, Goofy, Cuddly.

Bio: Dolly is the pretty girl of the Cat Lounge but she's also one of the goofiest. She sings whenever she is picked up and likes to roll around until you pay attention to her! She is known to pick a human on whose lap to sit for the entire hour... come visit, it could be you!

Her Past: Found in North Beach as a kitten, she was owner surrendered to the city, and considered "unadoptable" due to underlying health condition (just requires a little extra TLC!)

Blinx (Female) - Resident

Birthday: June 2016

Purr-sonality Traits: Feisty, Cuddly, Goofy, Endearing, Loves to Give Kisses.

Bio: Don't let this gal's lack of an eyeball fool you for a docile kitty. Blinx is as cathletic and feisty as they come! She can play for hours on end (she loves playing catch with her dice or soccer with a ping pong ball) and she can hunt with the best of them. She will let you know when she's ready to be picked up and snuggled, and enjoys lap naps when she's finally wiped herself meow't.

Her Past: Turned in as a little baby, had to have eye surgery. May have had a sick mama and believed to have "Cerebeller Hyperplasia (aka CP)." Many animals with this condition are counted out, but with some extra considerations, she's expected to have a normal lifespan.

Shiloh (Female) - Resident

Birthday: May 2016

Purr-sonality Traits: Very Playful, Timid at First, Warms Up Quickly, Loves Sleepy Time Pets.

Bio: Meet Shiloh! She's Buffy's best friend and sister and though she might come off timid when approached at first, she will warm up to a calm disposition and warm lap quite quickly! She enjoys playing with the snake toys in the space (she's a natural hunter) and she also loves to cuddle with a human, or cat when she's ready to nap the afternoon away.

Her Past: Found as a stray near SFSU/Stonestown

Buffy (Female) - Resident

Birthday: May 2016

Purr-sonality Traits: Very Playful, Sweet, Soft Coat, Loves Snake Toy.

Bio: This soft coated baby will run circles around you when she's awake and then completely pass out in a cat coma. Like clock-work, after a cat nap, she will be 100% energetically restored to her original wackiness. You can tell her apart from her sister, Shiloh, by her big, bright eyes! You may also catch her running on the wheel as she's a natural cathlete.

Her Past: Found as a stray near SFSU/Stonestown

Ginny (Female) - Resident

Birthday: July 2016

Purr-sonality Traits: Sweet, Docile, Loving, Flirtaeous, Lap Napper.

Bio: Ginny is a rare kitty, because she is an orange female. Only 20% of orange tabbies are female. Beyond being rare, she is a real gem. She is curious and will play with you in a gentle and docile manner. She can also sense a calm and warm lap a mile away, so don't be too surprised if you get a Ginny in your lap. She's also a "parrot cat" so you may end up with her perched on your shoulder. Ginny is the sister and best friend of Ron.

Her Past: Feral Colony in Golden Gate Park.

Ron (Male) - Resident

Birthday: July 2016

Purr-sonality Traits: Talkative, Sweet, Docile, Loving, Big Ham.

Bio: Ron is quite the personality. He will politely meow at you to either pet him, or pick him up and cradle him in your arms, but he also has a very fun and feisty side, where he will want to play until he can play no longer. He will run the wheel for treats! Ron is the brother and best friend of Ginny. He's been known to imitate Ginny and attempt to leap on your shoulder, but he usually ends up on your back.

His Past: Feral Colony in Golden Gate Park.

Otis (Male) - Resident

Birthday: January 2016

Purr-sonality Traits: Playful, Curious, Loving, Goofy, Professional Wrestler.

Bio: Otis is a very special boy. He had a brush with death as a young cat, but he did not let his first experience with humanity taint him forever. He is immensely friendly, loving and hilarious. His favorite past-time is wrestling with his good buddy and fellow tux, Burger.

His Past: Found in a box nearly dead, Otis has blossomed into a healthy, strong kitty that overcame a dreadful and heartbreaking past.

Burger (Male) - Resident

Birthday: June 2016

Purr-sonality Traits: Playful, Adventurous, Curious, Confident, Loving.

Bio: Burger is a chatty, handsome boy in his purrfect tuxedo. He's energetic and active, zooming from one end of the lounge to the other, chasing bubbles, or wrestling with his "lil sis", Blinx. In his mellow moments, he loves to sleep on the hanging chair, preferably snuggled with a friend or his on-again-off-again-girlfurriend, Ginny. Burger is Purrresident of the KitTea Kitty Welcoming Committee - he is always first to calmly say hello to the new arrivals and let them know it is all going to be okay!

His Past: Found as a stray in San Francisco, CA.

Tippi (Female) - Resident

Purrthday: June 2017 (ish)

Purrsonality Traits: Picking a lap. Laying in the lap. Convincing the lap to stay still for hours on end.

Fun Fact: Tippi served with the Canadian army during WWII. She was decorated with bows, ribbons, and string for her bravery during the daring Dieppe raid (all of which have been subsequently torn to shreds).

Past: Sister to Noodle and Strudel. Not much is written in Tippi’s book of life, "Laser Pointers, String, and Existence" except the foreward by Rene Descates. What we do know is that they love each other very, very much, which is the ultimate existential apex.

Noodle (Male) - Resident

Purrthday: June 2017 (ish)

Purrsonality Traits: Being a derp. Crossing and uncrossing his eyes. Trying to meow, only to utter a silly 'meep'.

Hobbies: Crawling onto your back. Doing his best impression of a scarf. Showing you his belly in a "paint me like one of your French cats" kind of way.

Fun Fact: Noddle's name comes from his days in the car business, where he was employed as a stand-in for those inflatable, dancing towers.

Past: Noodle was reunited with his siblings after being found later. They not only remembered one another, but toured briefly as backup singers for Joanna Newsom before settling at KitTea.

Strudel (Male) - Resident

Purrthday: June 2017 (ish)

Purrsonality Traits: Looking *exactly* like Noodle. Being sweet, like sugary Strudel. Wrapping his paws around you in an "it's not time for you to stop petting me" way that makes you melt.

Fun Fact: When he sleeps, Strudel dreams that he's about to take a final for a college class he never studied for ... even though he graduated from Wellesley in 08'.

Past: Strudel was found with Tippy and later reunited with Noodle. They are collectively known as The Birmans and, among other adorable things, love (love) love being pet and canoodled. Seriously, I don't know how a normal household would be able to give them enough attention.

The Adoption Process

At KitTea, we believe that a cat makes a house a home. We also believe that introducing people to formerly at-risk, now socialized cats is just as fulfilling.

To that end we partner with Hopalong Animal Rescue, a wonderfully administrated organization doing amazing work.

If you've already visited KitTea and met an adoptable cat you love, please check meow't Hopalong Animal Rescue’s website to apply directly. An adoption specialist from the rescue will connect with you within 24-48 hours. Same-day adoptions are not possible, as vetting and fit are the most important part of this purrocess.
