Host / Cat Wrangler
$18.07/hr (with weekly tips)

Please be aware that while we strive to create the kind of environment we dreamed about when on the lower rungs of the service industry – relaxed, supportive, flexible, cat/kitten filled – we still believe in its most sacred tenet: no one is above the most tedious aspects of the job and we all strive to do the right thing.

Dishes need to be done? (Let’s get them done). Litter robots need a deep clean? (Gloves on). This extends to the manager and owner, who are elbows-deep with you. It’s this humility and professionalism that allows a small team to function fluidly, without resentment, and with respect for one another’s unique talents.

If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.

Host/Cat Wrangler

Flexibility: It's important to us that we find the right person, so we're willing to work around your needs and desires.

Low-ego, positive coworkers / management: We believe in graciousness and humility. Doing the right thing even when inconvenient. And not only taking ownership of our accomplishments, but also our shortcomings - because it's not important that we make mistakes or have weaknesses, but rather that we acknowledge them freely and try to improve, together, as a team.

We're here to help you grow, and vice versa.

Now for the fun stuff:

Hosting Duties: You'll be managing the reservations book, answering the phone, responding to emails and voicemails and welcoming guests with your warm, delightful purrsonality. You’ll also take charge of our merchandise area, restocking items, maintaining inventory counts in Square and packing/shipping online orders and processing orders that arrive during business hours.

Cat Wrangling Duties: For the most part, you'll tend to a room of people (up to 14 if it is a purrivate event). You'll provide an entertaining backdrop to people excited to meet our cats and kittens, which includes: sharing cat facts, cat purrsonality traits, facilitating adoptions, chit-chatting about guests' lives, and making sure everyone gets a chance to interact with several cats during their hour long visit. You’ll be guiding guests as to how to get the best out of their experience, and guiding cats who love backs, shoulders, string toys, etc. to guests that want to experience such comforts. You'll also tend to the cats' needs, health, and litter boxes (which includes cleaning, as necessary).

Now for the serious stuff:

Multi-tasking is a must, as is using your time efficiency. Pitching-in and working with your teammates is important.

Meowst Importantly: A general knowledge of google docs, comfort/ease working with technology and different apps/point of sale systems, exquisite verbal and written communication, organizational skills, patience/listening skills to best interact with guests and a personable way of interacting with guests and fellow teammates.

The least fun part of the job is cleaning. (That being said, we have invested a lot of money into automatic litter boxes, high-end vacuums, and other gadgets to make your job as easy as possible). Still, there will be cat poop, cat pee, cat vomit, trash cans, dishes and laundry. We say this because we want someone who, like us, isn’t above getting the job done. We all pitch-in often and with focus. We ask folks not to be on their phones unless on a break, or updating GroupMe (our team chat) and to treat the job as we treat everyone who works it: with consideration and respect.

All that being said, if you’re a really strong candidate, please tell us why :)

Benefits
- Spend on and off-hours with cats and kittens and knowing that you are doing a wonderful thing for both kitties and humans.
- Employee discounts on merchandise + free cat and kitten lounge visits

-401-K Plan (optional)
- And perhaps most importantly: a no-jerk co-worker policy :)

Hiring Process: We will contact applicants an interview when we think it might be a purrfect match.

While we believe in transparency and proactive communication (job hunting is pretty awful, isn't it?) - please, no (cat)calls about hiring. We do our best to answer everyone, but volume prevents it in every case in addition to our hiring needs. If you think you are just purrfect and need to follow-up via email, feel free to send a note: support@kitteasf.com.
